Sage Kotsenburg United States

Home Mountain:
Park City

Sage, defined as someone venerated for the possession of wisdom, is an appropriate moniker for an athlete who burst on to the stage at a time-tested twelve years of age. Kotsenburg grew up in the shadow of nearby Park City, Utah. Strapped in sideways since the age of five, he snatched what would soon become a lift ticket to super stardom and never looked back. At age eight, Sage jumped on the US Snowboard Series and won every event for the next four years. But 2010 was Sage’s true breakout year. He won a Dew Cup, grabbed fifth at X Games Aspen and took home a Silver medal at X Games Europe. In 2011, he took a Bronze in Big Air at Winter X and another at the Arctic Challenge. In 2012, he claimed Silver at X Games Aspen and the U.S. Grand Prix, then closed the season with Travis Rice’ illustrious Red Bull Supernatural event. In 2013, a jump in his World Snowboard Tour ranking all but secured his spot for Sochi, surprising no one, least of all Sage.
