Countdown to Mountain Games - Sasha Digiulian
We are officially a month away from GoPro Mountain Games, and the anticipation is beginning to mount. Not only do we get to play with our friends and family in the beautiful Vail Valley, we also get the chance to spend time with our incredible athletes, and cheer them on in competition.
One of the stars to compete at the Games is Sasha Digiulian, world-champion climber, scholar, GoPro athlete, speaker and overall badass. Somehow, in the midst of being a professional athlete–backed by the likes of Red Bull, Adidas and GoPro among others–Sasha completed her higher learning at Columbia University, class of 2016. If that wasn’t enough, she is now an accomplished public speaker, writer and co-founder of adventure media company ROAM. And did we mention she is a world-champion climber?
She was the first American woman to climb grade 9a (5.14d), and she has climbed over 30 First Female Ascents as well as 8 significant First Ascents, including Big Wall in Brazil and The Misty Wall in Yosemite. In 2015, she became the first woman to free climb Magic Mushroom (7c+), one of the most difficult routes on the north face of the Eiger, then she followed it up in 2017 with the first female ascent of Mora Mora.
So, needless to say, it's easy to understand why we get so pumped for GoPro Mountain Games. With legends like Sasha Digiulian in the house, how could you miss it?
