This past weekend, GoPro athlete Joey Logano went to battle on the road course of Sonoma Raceway for the Save Mart 350. And although he started the race in 18th, he battled inside the top 10 for the majority of the race, even edging all the way up to the second-place position at one point in the race. Unfortunately, rear grip issues plagued the #22 car, and a late-race pitlane penalty forced Logano back into the pack, and he ultimately logged a 12th-place finish in the books.

Logano said of the race, "We had a pretty good car and made adjustments to make it better; probably a top-five car once we had it going, but I sped down pit road. We had a winning strategy and scored a lot of stage points. With a little more speed, we maybe could have won the thing. I just sped down pit road and lost so much track position after that."
However, even though Joey didn't win the race, he still took the win in the hearts of many, including the folks at the High Fives Foundation. For the last few years, the Joey Logano Foundation has supported the Tahoe-based High Fives Foundation, and he makes sure he takes some time for them when he comes out to the Sonoma race. In fact, his contribution this year puts his total support over $50K!

We love everything about the High Fives Foundation, and we are so thrilled that we could help connect them with Joey and his foundation. Joey is an amazing representative for motorsports, and we are so proud of everything he has accomplished on and off the track. Check out the official release below from High Fives, and join those he has helped in the video below wish him luck this weekend in Sonoma.

Joey Logano Foundation Presents Donation to High Fives Foundation

$53,000 Contribution Represents Three Years of Partnership Between JLF and HFF

At today’s Save Mart 350 in Sonoma, Joey Logano presented the High Fives Foundation with a check for $5,000, bringing the Joey Logano Foundation’s contribution total to $53,000 over three years of commitment to supporting HFF’s work.  High Fives Foundation founder Roy Tuscany accepted the generous gift in the GoPro Suite at Sonoma Raceway.

The Joey Logano Foundation inspires and assembles the NASCAR community to assist children and young adults in need during times of crisis. Their dedication to providing relief for those in unforeseen circumstances makes them an ideal partner for the High Fives Foundation, which supports mountain action sport athletes who suffer life-altering injuries.  Over the past three years, JLF has offered High Fives donations and once-in-lifetime memories, such as inviting athletes to join professional NASCAR drivers on the go-kart track.

Contributions from the Joey Logano Foundation go towards the High Fives Empowerment Fund, which has benefited several young athletes.  Among them are Tim Burr (Glenwood Springs, Colo.), Max Elles (Bridgewater Corners, Vt.), Landon McGauley (British Columbia, Can.), Taylor Fiddyment (Truckee, Calif.), Luke Eckenberg (Temperence, Mich.) and Nolan Trowe (Truckee, Calif.).  After suffering life-altering injuries while enjoying their favorite outdoor sports, these athletes found support from High Fives in covering the cost of a range of therapeutic services, such as acupuncture, massage and physical therapy, in addition to providing adaptive ski gear to get them back on the mountains they love.

GoPro facilitated the relationship between the Joey Logano Foundation and High Fives, acting as a sponsor to Logano and connecting him to High Fives as a non-profit partner in the Sonoma area that operates with a parallel mission and values.  The groups plan to continue working together to benefit the recovery of young athletes.
