In an effort to spread the word about the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s raptor rehabilitation efforts, GoPro for a Cause is excited to premier a short film about the Beijing Raptor Rescue Center (BRRC) and launch a fundraising promotion to support the cause. The film, produced by GoPro’s professional media team, takes viewers behind the scenes to see what it takes to rehabilitate these incredible birds of prey.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) was founded in 1969 with a mission to rescue and protect animals around the world. The organization works in more than 40 countries on projects such as rehabilitating penguins after oil spills, purchasing land to protect endangered elephants and helping stranded dolphins make their way back to the ocean. This particular initiative with the BRRC focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating and re-releasing wild birds of prey back into the wild in and around Beijing.

Our producers followed IFAW closely during one of its raptor rehabilitation missions and are stoked to share the emotional journey, trials and eventual success of re-introducing a raptor to its natural environment. Check it out:

Since 2001, the BRRC has rescued more than 4,000 birds of prey from 30 species including hawks, eagles and owls. Fifty-five percent of the raptor patients that came to the center have been successfully released back into the wild. In addition to helping these populations continue to thrive, IFAW and the BRRC work to educate both public citizens and policymakers about the importance of promoting wildlife protection and combatting wildlife crime.

To help spread the word and raise critical funds for IFAW’s continued animal welfare efforts, GoPro for a Cause is launching a fundraising promotion and will match donations made to IFAW through the GoPro for a Cause website*. With your donation, you’ll not only help raptors in China and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, but you will also be entered to win big GoPro prizes, such as a HERO5 Black or a $1,000 GoPro-funded donation to the qualified nonprofit of your choice!

*Donation matching only until 2/28.
