How to fix it

In order to get your camera to appear in Quik for desktop, make sure that the following is in order:

Method 1

Use a micro SD card adapter and verify if Quik for desktop is able to recognize the new connected device.

Method 2
  1. Ensure that the USB logo appears on the front display of the camera when powered on and connected to the computer. If there's no USB logo showing,
  • Make sure you're using the GoPro USB cable
  • Use another USB cable
  • Connect to a different USB port
  1. Remove the microSD card and battery (if applicable) for a few moments before reconnecting the camera to the computer.
  2. Try connecting the camera to another computer. This helps to narrow down the possibility that your computer isn't properly communicating with the camera.
  3. Open Windows Update and make sure that you run all necessary updates for your operating system
  4. Restart the computer and try again. This does the trick more often than not.
  5. If you see an error message like the screenshot below, then you may need to reinstall USB Controllers

  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click a device and click Uninstall. Repeat for each device.
  • Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install
2. WINDOWS 8
  • In the Start menu(tile view), type device manager, then click Device Manager.
  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click a device and click Uninstall. Repeat for each device.
  • Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install

Method 3

Also, please make sure the file structure organization is exactly the same structure when recording on a formatted card. For example, users might tend to change the folder name "100GOPRO" to another naming convention. At which point, Quik for qesktop will NOT allow to have the user import the files through the application.

Please make sure to change back the file structure to "100GOPRO" in order to have the files be imported through Quik for desktop. As a reminder, you must use a micro SD card adapter to change the file folder name.
