Tips to ensure proper use and care of all cameras:
HERO11/10/9/8/7/6/5 Black, HERO11 Black Mini, HERO7 Silver/White, and HERO (2018):
These cameras are waterproof to 33ft (10m) with the door closed. If you dive deeper, you need to use the Protective Housing.
MAX:
MAX is waterproof down to 5m (16ft) without a housing but ensure the camera door is closed before exposing MAX to liquid.
Fusion:
Fusion is waterproof down to 5m (16ft) without a housing but ensure both camera doors are closed before exposing Fusion to liquid.
HERO5 Session, HERO4 Session, and HERO Session:
Session cameras are waterproof to a depth of 10m (33’) without the need for any housing.
The unit is only waterproof when the side door is closed and locked. For proper side door function, the camera should be rinsed off with fresh water (with the side door closed) and dried after exposure to dirty environments.
The camera drains in any orientation, but for optimal water drainage, it's best to have the camera sitting upright (Shutter button on top).
HERO (2014):
The camera comes in a housing that is capable of withstanding depths of up to 131 feet (40 meters).
HERO4 and HERO3+ (including sub-models):
These cameras are NOT waterproof without a HOUSING. All of these cameras come with the Standard Housing capable of withstanding depths of up to 131 feet (40 meters). The Dive Housing, it is waterproof to 197' (60 meters).

- Ensure the door latch is closed before exposing the camera to liquid.
- Rinse off with fresh water (with the side door closed) and dry after exposure to dirty or salty environments.
- The touch screen is designed to work when wet, but you may need to wipe it off if it has trouble sensing your commands.
- You can navigate with the camera buttons if you’re underwater.
- When using the camera in water, lock the touchscreen via your Dashboard.
