Answer

HERO7 White, HERO7 Silver, HERO7 Black
HERO7 Black is waterproof to 33ft (10m) with the door closed. You won’t need an additional housing before diving in. Ensure that all camera doors are closed prior to exposing the camera to liquid. For proper function of the side door, the camera should be rinsed off with freshwater (with the side door closed) and dried after exposure to dirty environments.

The touch screen was designed to work when wet, but you may need to wipe it off if it has trouble sensing your commands. You can also navigate with your camera’s buttons if you’re under water.

Heads Up: The Frame does not provide additional waterproof protection.

HERO (2018), HERO6 Black, HERO5 Black:
The HERO (2018), HERO6 Black and HERO5 Black are waterproof down to 10m (33ft) without a housing; just ensure that all camera doors are closed prior to exposing the camera to liquid. For proper function of the side door, the camera should be rinsed off with freshwater (with the side door closed) and dried after exposure to dirty environments.

HERO (2018), HERO6 Black and HERO5 Black users with the need to dive deeper can utilize the Super Suit housing, enabling the use of your camera as deep as 60m.

Fusion:
Fusion is waterproof down to 5m (16ft) without a housing; just ensure that both camera doors are closed prior to exposing Fusion to liquid.

HERO Session, HERO4 Session, HERO5 Session:
Session cameras are waterproof to a depth of 10m (33’) without the need for any housing.

The unit is only waterproof when the side door is closed and locked. For proper function of the side door, the camera should be rinsed off with freshwater (with the side door closed) and dried after exposure to dirty environments .

The camera will drain in any orientation, but for optimal water drainage, it's best to have the camera sitting upright (Shutter button on top).

HERO (2014)
The camera comes in a housing that is capable of withstanding depths of up to 131 feet (40 meters).

Before taking the unit in the water you'll want to be sure to verify that there is no dirt or debris along the white rubber gasket that could compromise the integrity of the waterproof case.

To ensure that the camera is fully sealed, push the housing backdoor all the way in before securing the black latch on the top of the case.

HERO4 and HERO3+ (including sub-models):
These cameras are NOT waterproof without a HOUSING. All of these cameras do come with the Standard Housing that is capable of withstanding depths of up to 131 feet (40 meters).
  • If you are using the Dive Housing, it is waterproof to 197' (60 meters)

If you are using a BacPac, here are the depth ratings:

  • If you are using the Dive Housing BacPac Backdoor, the depth rating is 197' (60 meters).
  • If you are using the Standard Housing with the Standard BacPac Backdoor, the depth rating is 131' (40 meters).
  • If you are using the Standard Housing with the Touch BacPac Backdoor, the depth rating is 10' (3 meters).

Before taking the unit in the water you'll want to be sure to verify that there is no dirt or debris along the white rubber gasket that could compromise the integrity of the waterproof case.

To ensure that the camera is fully sealed, push the housing backdoor all the way in before securing the black latch on the top of the case.

If you are using the camera in salt water, it's always a good idea to safely remove the camera and wash the housing with fresh water.
