  • Can I add 3rd party videos/photos in Quik for desktop?
    • You cannot add any 3rd party media files into Quik for desktop. It will only find the original SOURCE files coming from a GoPro camera. 
  • Where are my Quik for desktop Media Files Stored?
    • The default location for the imported media from the camera is under the following path:
/Users/<YourUserName>/Pictures/GoPro - Mac
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Pictures\GoPro - Windows

For more information on the exact location on a particular file, you can try the following steps:
  1. Select the media file along the thumbnail viewer.
  2. Right click on the thumbnail.
  3. Select the option "Show in Finder (Mac)" or "Show in Explorer (Windows)"
  4. A new Finder or Explorer window will appear detailing the exact location of the selected file. 
  • What Social Media Feeds Can I Share On Quik for desktop?
    • Facebook and YouTube are the social media channels available for sharing your GoPro content. After clicking the preferred social media channel, follow the instructions to fill in your description of the video.
  • What does the Edits menu show?
    • Edits are categorized based on the following media:
  1. Trimmed clips from the Clip and Share process
  2. Extracted photos from Videos or Time lapses
  3. Exported video projects from GoPro Studio
  • Where are my Extracted Photos Saved on my Hard Drive?
    • The saved extracted photo is located based on the original location of the video or time lapse you used to reference.

    • HiLight tags will be visible on the media thumbnail viewer and playback window. HiLight Tags are displayed as a small yellow badge. It will indicate the number of HiLight tags along the lower right corner. 
  • Is there anyway to organize your media rather than date created? Can I organize them into different folders?
    • Unfortunately not. You can only organize your media files based on the time you created it within the camera settings. 
  • Which camera models can be updated through Quik for desktop?
The following camera models can be updated through Quik for desktop:
  • HERO
  • HERO+
  • HERO+LCD
  • HERO3+: Silver Edition
  • HERO3+: Black Edition
  • HERO4 Session
  • HERO4: Silver Edition
  • HERO4: Black Edition

Those with HERO3 cameras will continue to be updated through gopro.com, and HERO2 cameras will continue to be updated through GoPro Studio(or manually).
  • What are the Minimum System Requirements for Quik for desktop? Also, do I need to install Quicktime Player for Windows?
    • Please refer to this link for the system requirements. Also no, Quicktime Player for Windows is not required when installing Quik for desktop (Windows). 
  • I created HiLight tags in Quik for desktop. Why don't they appear in GoPro Studio?
    • In order for a HiLight tag to transfer from Quik for desktop to GoPro Studio, you must alter the metadata of the video file. Since this isn't a possibility, HiLight tags created in Quik for desktop will NOT transfer to GoPro Studio.
If you create HiLight tags from the camera either during or after recording, then those tags will appear in both Quik for desktop and GoPro Studio. Once the file is imported onto your hard drive, however, that metadata cannot be overwritten, so new tags can't be added permanently.
  • When deleting media in Quik for desktop, does it move the file to the trash?
    • ​Yes, when deleting media within the application, it WILL delete the media from Quik for desktop application AND the original file location. It will then move the file to the trash bin. Before proceeding with deletion, there will always be a reminder for file deletion within Quik for desktop. 
  • Why Can't I Choose the Installation Directory for Quik for desktop?
    • ​GoPro App for Desktop can only be installed on the system drive where the operating system resides. It would need install important components on the system library in order to operate the application.
  • Can I control and change my camera settings through Quik for desktop similar to the Capture app?
    • No, you cannot control or change the camera settings through Quik for desktop. The application is the easiest way to offload and enjoy your GoPro photos and videos.
  • Can i wirelessly transfer my footage from my camera to my computer through Quik for desktop?
    • You can only transfer your footage through a USB cable or micro SD card adapter connected to your computer. There is no wireless setup. 
  • How can I import my footage through Quik for desktop?
