HiLight Tags are a way to mark your favorite moments in your video as they play. HiLight Tags are cross-functional for all platforms. GoPro Quik will consider the HiLight Tags you add to your videos and do their best to implement those shots into your edits.
HiLight Tagging is compatible with: HERO12 Black, HERO11 Black, HERO11 Black Mini, HERO10 Black, HERO9 Black, HERO8 Black, MAX, HERO7 Black, HERO (2018), Fusion, HERO6 Black, HERO5 Black, HERO4 Black, HERO Session, HERO+ LCD, and HERO+ cameras only.
You can create HiLight Tags with the following methods:
Tips:
- Using Quik or a remote to add a tag ensures that the camera does not pick up the sound of your finger on the camera and prevents the camera from shaking.
- You can have up to 80 Highlight Tags in a single recording.
Button press on the camera
Press the [Mode Button] while the camera is recording to insert a HiLight Tag at that specific time in the video.
With HERO11 Black Mini, press the [Status/Pair Button] while the camera is recording to insert a HiLight Tag at that specific time in the video.
On the HERO Session / HERO5/4 Session, press the rear [Menu Button] to HiLight Tag a moment.
- While using Remo or a Voice Control-enabled camera, you can tag a point in a video by saying "GoPro HiLight."
- Your voice command will be heard on the video.
- Open Quik for desktop.
- In the [Media Library], click a video to which you'd like to add a tag.
- Select [Open In Create Mode].
- While the video plays, click on the spot you'd like to add a HiLight Tag.
- Click [SAVE] in the lower-right corner to save your tags.
How to view HiLight Tags:
- Open Quik for Desktop and login if you haven't already.
- While in the [Media] tab, click on [Filter By ALL].
- Select [HiLights] from the dropdown menu to view your HiLight Tags.
- All videos that contain HiLight Tags will be listed. Click on a video or multiple videos, and select [Open In Create Mode].
- To view tags within each video, scroll your mouse over the orange dots.
How to add a HiLight Tag:
- Open GoPro Quik.
- Tap on [Media] to view your content.
- Select a video from the [App] or [Cloud] tab. First, download your video to the app to add a HiLight Tag to media in the Cloud. You cannot add a HiLight Tag to content in the Cloud.
- Tap [HiLight] when watching your footage to tag your favorite moments.
How to view HiLight Tags:
- Open GoPro Quik.
- Tap [Media].
- Tap on [Cloud] under [All Media] at the top of the display.
- Select [More] and check the box next to [HiLights].
- Videos that contain HiLight Tags will display on your screen.
How to add a HiLight Tag:
- Log in to GoPro.com.
- Select a video from your [Media Library].
- While the video plays, click [HiLight], highlighted in orange, to add a HiLight Tag to your video.
- When you add a HiLight Tag, it appears in the timeline as an orange dot. You can add more than one HiLight Tag to your video.
- The orange dot above will change to white as your video plays. In the photo below, I've added three HiLight Tags to my video.
How to view HiLight Tags:
- Log in to GoPro.com.
- Your Media page will automatically open.
- Click [More].
- Check the box next to [HiLights] and click [Apply].
Using GoPro.com or GoPro Quik for Desktop:
- Select a video.
- Hover your mouse over the HiLight Tag.
- Click the [X] as it appears.
- Compatible with HERO12/11/10/9/8, HERO11 Black Mini, and MAX.
- Press the HiLight Button to insert a HiLight Tag.
- This function does not work when multiple cameras are connected to The Remote.
- HERO5 and newer: Press the [Mode Button] on the remote to insert a HiLight Tag.
- HERO4 and older: Press the [Settings Button] on the remote to insert a HiLight Tag.
- This function does not work when multiple cameras are connected to the Smart Remote.
