How to View and Edit QuikStories

What are you trying to do?

View and edit content made using the QuikStories feature in the GoPro app and Quik.

Where does it apply?

  • GoPro App
  • Quik for mobile
  • iOS Devices
  • Android Devices

How to do it

Each QuikStory is created from footage shot over the past 72 hours, automatically edited for the best result. QuikStories appear on the Home screen of the GoPro app for 7 days. They are automatically deleted after 7 days to make room for new footage.

To view and edit your QuikStory:
  • Open the GoPro app.
  • Tap on the thumbnail at the top of the Home screen labeled “QuikStory” to open the project in Quik (if you haven’t installed Quik, the app will remind you).
  • In Quik, you can add or remove media, change effects, and select a different soundtrack (view Quik Support for more detailed help).
To save your QuikStory:
  • Open the GoPro app.
  • Tap the QuikStory thumbnail at the top of the Home screen to open the project in Quik.
  • When you’re happy with your video, save your QuikStory by tapping Save.
Saved QuikStories will appear on the Home screen of the GoPro app, where you can relive your adventures and share them with your friends or family. They’re also available in Quik. Saved QuikStories do not expire.

How to add or remove media from your QuikStory
  • You can add photos or videos from your recent GoPro footage, your GoPro cloud account, or your phone’s camera roll.
  • Open your QuikStory by tapping the thumbnail at the top of your Home screen. This will open your QuikStory in Quik, where you can edit it.
  • Tap the pencil icon that appears on any of the clips during playback.
  • Decide where you want the new photo or video to appear, and tap the + icon to view your camera roll.
  • Select the media you’d like to add. On iOS, Quik will default to your Camera Roll; select a different source by tapping the down arrow next to Camera Roll and selecting any of the options displayed. On Android, you can scroll across to select an album. To access the camera footage copied for your QuikStory, for example, select the “GoPro Recent” album.
  • Tap Add to add the selected items to your QuikStory. Once added, you can rearrange the order of your media, and edit the individual clips and photos.
To remove videos:
  • Open your QuikStory in the Quik app.
  • Find the item you want to remove, and tap the pencil icon.
  • Tap Delete to remove the clip.
  • Alternatively, you can drag the item to the lower part of the screen and drop it over the Delete icon to remove.

How to view the individual files used in a QuikStory

You can view the individual photos and videos used in a QuikStory. There are two ways to do this:

From the Media view
  1. Open the GoPro app.
  2. Tap the Media icon (iOS), or select Media (Android) from the navigation menu.
  3. You will be taken to your Recent Media, where you’ll find the individual photos and videos used in your QuikStories. Copied items remain in Recent Media for 7 days, after which they’re deleted to make room for more.
  4. Scroll to the group of photos and videos you’d like to view, and tap any thumbnail to view that item.
From the Home screen
  1. Open the GoPro app.
  2. On the Home screen, locate the QuikStory project for which you want to view files.
  3. Tap the More Options icon (three dots), and select “View Items” from the menu.
  4. You will be taken to your Recent Media, where you’ll find the individual photos and videos used in the QuikStory you selected.
  5. Tap any thumbnail to view it.
While in Recent Media, you can delete individual items or permanently save them to your Local Media. You can also create additional clips or grab a photo from an individual video and share them.

Pro Tip
Original files remain on your GoPro, so you can safely delete the copied photos and videos used in a QuikStory to make room on your device. If you want to save those items permanently on your phone, be sure to visit Recent Media and save them from there. To save all items on your GoPro’s SD card, download them individually, or use Quik for desktop to copy them to your hard drive.
