GoPro is all about capturing unforgettable experiences and living in the moment, so the last thing you want to be worrying about is battery life. Here are a few tips, tricks and GoPro accessories that will help you get the most out of your GoPro battery.
There are slight variations in battery life for each GoPro camera. Shooting in higher resolution and higher frame rates take more battery power while using a lower resolution requires less battery. Here's a benchmark of what to expect out of your GoPro battery:
The best way to get the most out of your battery is to tailor your camera settings to your activity. This is where our recently launched Video Performance Modes come into play. Video Performance Modes allow you to configure your camera setup to match your activity and maximize battery life. Watch the video above or read on to learn more about the three Video Performance Modes:
This mode allows maximum video resolution and frame rates. Select this option if image quality is your top priority.
This mode increases battery life by optimizing video resolution and frame rate combinations to those that maximize battery life.
GoPro users love using their cameras in stationary setups–webcams, live streams, b-roll and more—the Tripod / Stationary Video setting offers optimal resolution and frame rates for long video shoots where there is no motion or airflow to cool the camera.
Battery charging times for your GoPro battery vary depending on the power source used. When using a GoPro Dual Battery Charger, for example, you can charge up in as little as two hours. Charging directly through another device, like a laptop while you're traveling, will take around four hours. For the fastest charge, we recommend using the GoPro SuperCharger, which enables USB-C-to-C wall charging.

If you're using the new Enduro Extended Battery, it will reach full charge around 13% faster than the standard GoPro battery.
Don't be distracted when you see your camera's battery indicator dip to the single digits. These GoPro accessories will boost your camera's battery life and allow you to recharge quickly when you're on the go.
GoPro released Volta (External Battery Grip), a versatile battery grip that charges your camera while you use it. Beyond just power, it comes loaded with additional features:
We've mentioned the Enduro Battery a few times now. This battery was launched in November 2021—just in time to bring significant improvements to cold weather run times, a.k.a. snow season!
With HERO11 Black, the Enduro battery enables the following average recording times at a battery temperature of 14°F / -10°C (note: this is the battery’s temperature, it can be even colder outside):
Enduro also significantly increases video recording time in moderate temperatures. For example, with HERO11 Black during typical outdoor activities at a temperature of 77°F / 25°C, the Enduro battery enables, on average:
Pick up the Dual Battery Charger + Spare Battery (HERO11, HERO10, HERO9):
The MAX Rechargeable Battery with the MAX Dual Battery Charger + Battery are your friends when it comes to maximizing battery life and equipping yourself with backup options.
Use the HERO8 Black Rechargeable Battery as a spare or replacement battery, and keep the HERO8 Black Dual Battery Charger + Battery on hand to power up at short notice.
