‘Funky Galileo’ Music Video is Both 100% GoPro + 100% Funky
Sure Sure just launched a 100% GoPro-shot music video titled "Funky Galileo" that has us movin’, groovin’ and swoonin’ to capture our own talents on GoPro. The video highlights the low-light capabilities of HERO7 Black and the musical stylings of this funky bunch on a party bus.
Straight out of East LA, this art-pop foursome says they fall somewhere between Steely Dan and the Talking Heads—check out their cover of the hit “This Must Be The Place.” And with the new single, “Funky Galileo” (which you can listen to below), the bandmates said they wanted to film themselves cutting loose with a twist—they wanted to do so while dressed up in period costumes as the renowned astronomer Galileo.
“The video idea came together really fast,” they explain. “We were supposed to go on tour the following week, so once we had the idea, we sought out high-quality renaissance costumes the next day and planned to shoot on the party bus the day after that. We executed basically as soon as we had the idea because we didn’t have time to waste. This forced us to create everything very fast and fluidly and not question our decisions, which is honestly a great way to get something done.”
With a fully fleshed out shot list, costumes secured and a party bus lined up, the band knew this DIY music video needed one more key player to execute. That’s when GoPro entered. The ease-of-use using GoPro in a low-light scenario paired with utra-high quality video resolutions and it’s mount-anywhere, go-anywhere nature made it the action camera of chose to execute the video.
The team, led by guitarist Charlie Glick, used a HERO7 Black mounted to a tripod to swap between handheld and third person POVs. With that sucker recording at 1440p60, all they had left to do was execute some funky fresh moves and pinkies-up wine sipping to make for an epic music video. If there is one thing Sure Sure is sure of, it’s that this is their best yet.
“We’re all really proud of it because we managed to shoot a video really fast and inexpensively, and the core idea behind the video is super funny and entertaining.”
