We see it all too often—Mom is stuck behind the camera, and we’re not going to stand for it anymore! GoPro wants families everywhere to turn the camera around and make sure everyone is in the frame.

We have a few tools to make this easier, including extension pole mounts like Shorty, 3-Way 2.0 and El Grande as well as a front-facing display on HERO9 Black. But we have one more tool that we feel will win over memory-makers all around the world, and it’s our recently launched app, Quik.

We caught up with GoPro’s Chief Digital Officer and Lapic Family Chief Memory Officer, Aimée Lapic, to see how she uses the Quik app and its auto-edit feature to make sure the whole family, herself included(!), make the cut.

“I love taking photos of my kids and family. We have so much fun together hiking, skiing and just hanging out. Those are the moments that I want to remember. While I love taking photos, I don’t have a lot of time—or even the skills—to edit the content of what we’ve just done. That’s where Quik comes in.”

You’ll notice that Aimée’s Quik edit above features both iPhone and GoPro content, and therein lies her favorite part about Quik: Being able to combine a year’s worth of memories into a snackable, shareable video with just a few taps.

“I love the quick easy editing that Quik has available. It’s fun to be able to either choose music or lighting features. But even better that I don’t have to choose if I don’t have time! I have so much fun making fast videos—Quik really does all the work.”

Here’s how she did it:

  1. Download Quik
  2. Create a Mural event of family memories by selecting photos from your App, Cloud*, or Phone gallery and tapping the add to Mural icon
  3. Tap the ‘featured’ auto-edit created by the Mural event
  4. Share the video as is or customize with photo filters, music, speed ramping tools and more

Download Quik here to give the app a whirl. And be sure to check out the Mural wall feature, too, for an easy way to organize you phone’s content so you’ll always know where to go to revisit, edit and share those priceless keeper moments.
