This week, a brand-new Toyota concept revealed itself at the New York Auto Show, and to say it has a few futuristic feature sets would be more than a mild understatement; not least of which is the integration of the GoPro HERO5 Session into the car’s body.

The Toyota FT-4X, or “Future Toyota,” the culmination of vision and design of Calty Design Research Inc. out of Newport Beach, California, is a conduit between the city and the national park. Function and compactness are key features of the FT-4X, which is why it comes as no surprise that the GoPro HERO5 Session is integrated. Built into the driver’s side rearview mirror, the HERO5 Session is ready to capture everything from the urban jungle to the scenic vistas of a mountain pass. Both a step into the future and a nod to the past, the FT-4X marries modern functionality with classic styling. It’s front is a clear homage to the FJ Land Cruiser, while the features like the Multi-Hatch exemplify progression.

As you can imagine, the FT-4X was greeted with a frenzy of press coverage and fanfare, and we are excited to see what future production models come from this concept.
