GoPro isn't the only brand at CES showing off rad GoPro-related products. This week, Polar, pioneers of heart rate monitors and makers of fitness trackers and wearable sports technology, announced and showcased three products that have been designed with slick GoPro-integrated features:

  • SPORTS WATCHES AS REMOTES: With both the Polar V800 GPS Sports Watch and the Polar M600 Smart Sports Watch, users will be able to control their GoPro remotely, giving them the ability to start and stop recording in challenging conditions.
  • TELEMETRY AND HEART RATE OVERLAYS: With Polar’s new H10 heart rate sensor, users will be able to connect to HERO4 and HERO5 cameras via bluetooth and overlay telemetry and heart rate data directly onto their GoPro videos. (see the screenshot below).

Marco Suvilaakso, Chief Strategy Officer at Polar, said this of the integration: "Together with GoPro, we've created a streamlined experience that enables Polar athletes to combine our world-leading heart rate tracking and GPS technology with best-in-class video capture from GoPro devices.
"Adding heart rate data over action videos not only enhances the Polar experience for adventurers, but also enables them to truly showcase and relive their athletic accomplishments."

According to Polar, functionality will begin rolling out soon between the HERO4 and the Polar V800. Later in 2017, support will expand to the Polar M600 and HERO5. Connectivity between both models and the Polar H10 will also be made available during the first quarter of 2017.

Sounds awesome. Looks awesome. We are excited to give it a whirl ourselves.
