More About Cause Name

Growing up, Muyambi had to borrow bicycles from neighbors to help transport his mother to the hospital. After contracting malaria as a child, Muyambi himself was brought to the clinic on the back of a bike. Years later, while attending college in Pennsylvania, Muyambi saw an opportunity to apply for a grant and knew exactly how he wanted to give back. Muyambi is a native Ugandan, and the founder of Bicycles Against Poverty.

On average, rural Africans live three miles from clean water, five miles from a health center and over six miles from a market. Using a sustainable, community-based approach in coordination with a Ugandan bicycle company, BAP offers a lease-to-own bicycle model for rural smallholder farmers. BAP has distributed over 1,000 bicycles to date and plans to distribute 1,000 more in 2015 alone.

This story of Bicycles Against Poverty was told with help from filmmaker Seth C. Brown. Seth took the opportunity to reframe his philosophy and his approach to filmmaking using a GoPro camera, and in so doing, learned to see the world through a different lens.
