How do I qualify for a double the dollars Awards payout?

Accepted Answer

If you’re a GoPro Subscriber and are recognized with a photo or video Award between ending December 31, 2024 you will receive $500 for a photo and $1,000 for a video. (Non-subscriber payouts are $250 for a photo and $500 for a video.) In order to qualify for double the payout, you must be an active Subscriber at the time of the Award and the selected footage must be featured on the @gopro global Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube channel or GoPro’s news blog, The Current.

I just got a GoPro. Where do I start?

That’s awesome! Welcome to the crew. Once you unbox your camera, begin with the Quick Start Guide. Try capturing at least one photo and one video on the very first day. Then start exploring awe-inducing GoPro features like TimeWarp 3.0, SuperPhoto and LiveBurst.

Question 3

What kind of photos, clips and videos can I submit?

Accepted Answer

Any photo, raw clip, or video edit you captured with a GoPro is great to submit to our Anything Awesome challenge. Guidelines vary for other challenges, so take a look at our Challenges Overview.

100% GOPRO PHOTOS
For GoPro Awards, submit the unedited .jpg file shot on your GoPro. The file size needs to be greater than 1MB.

100% GOPRO RAW CLIPS
Submit the unedited raw .mp4 file shot on your GoPro. Submissions must be shot in HD or higher resolution (720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2.7K, 4K). The higher the resolution, the better.

100% GOPRO VIDEO EDITS
The best video edits invite viewers to connect with the story by connecting with one central character, or at most, a small group. Establish the story’s location early on. Then build moments of tension and action toward an apex. Add a fun, humorous, breathtaking (or curveball) conclusion. Check out the GoPro Channel to get a good feel for GoPro’s storytelling style. Every single clip within a video edit submission needs to be 100% shot on GoPro.

How many times can I submit?

GoPro Awards is always on, and there’s no limit to how many times you can submit. Upload your best, brightest and most captivating content, but keep in mind—multiple submissions of the same asset will not increase the likelihood that you’ll be selected for an award.

How will I be notified about my submissions?

Accepted Answer

GoPro will use the email associated with your GoPro account for all communications. Make sure your contact info is current to ensure proper delivery of GoPro notifications.

Question 6

How will I know if my submission was received?

Accepted Answer

A visual confirmation will appear on the upload page once your submission is complete. Also, a confirmation email will be sent for the first submission each day. (Multiple uploads won’t result in multiple emails.) All notifications will be sent to the email address associated with your GoPro account.

One important note: The ability to upload photos and videos to your GoPro PLUS account is separate from GoPro Awards submissions. Although you may not see the content in your media manager, you’re still able to submit. Your Awards content will be identified by the title you enter at the time of submission. Make your description clear and unique, so you’ll know what’s been selected for an award when notified.

Can I receive multiple GoPro Awards?

Absolutely. There’s no limit to the number of awards you can receive or the number of submissions you can enter. We’re continually searching for our favorite submissions, so keep them coming!

Question 8

How can I make sure my work stands out?

Accepted Answer

Both image quality and story quality help your photo or video submission stand out. Always submit the highest-quality resolution. Photos should be a minimum of 1MB. Raw clips and video edits should be captured and submitted in the highest quality possible and without the addition of watermarks. Lastly, the more info we have, the better. Complete the form fields when you submit your photos and videos to the best of your ability. “Tokyo” is good, but “Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo, Japan” is better.

Each time you upload footage to GoPro Awards, there’s a possibility your personal social handle will be promoted to more than 44 million followers around the globe. Most of our featured photographers and videographers begin engaging with the brand right here. We also regularly select award recipients to represent GoPro at global events. Then there are the fringe benefits. You’ll be out there living your best life and inspiring others to live theirs. The opportunities are truly endless, and you’re in charge.

It doesn’t. GoPro Awards is a year-round program and the Anything Awesome challenge is always open. Expiration of our featured challenges will vary per challenge, and we’ll list end dates on GoPro Awards and individual challenge pages.

Is there anything I shouldn’t submit to Awards?

Great question. We actually asked our legal team the same thing. Here are several examples of photos and videos you should most definitely not submit:

Anything fraudulent, false, misleading or deceptive.
Anything defamatory, obscene, pornographic, vulgar or offensive.
Anything that promotes illegal or harmful activities or substances.
Anything that promotes discrimination, bigotry, racism, hatred, harassment or harm against any individual or group.
Anything that infringes upon, misappropriates or violates a third party’s patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, moral rights or other intellectual property rights, rights of publicity or privacy.
Anything that violates or encourages conduct that might violate any applicable law or regulation or give rise to civil liability.
Anything violent or threatening, or anything that promotes violence or actions that might be threatening to another person.

Question 12

Can GoPro use my content, even if I don’t earn an award?

Accepted Answer

Yes. That’s the short answer. Simply by submitting your content and agreeing to our standard terms, you’ve given GoPro a non-exclusive license to use your content. Non-exclusive means you’re still able to share your content on your own social channels and YouTube, and you’re sharing the rights with GoPro for the opportunity to get paid and receive even greater exposure through GoPro’s global reach.

What’s the GoPro Premium Content Licensing Program all about?

The biggest difference between this and GoPro Awards has to do with licensing rights. By checking the box for the GoPro Premium Content Licensing Program, you’re electing to give GoPro exclusive rights to the photo or video you’re submitting. Global advertising brands, ad agencies and television networks look to GoPro Content Licensing for high-end imagery and incredible stories. This puts your content in front of key decision makers and opens the door to getting featured in TV shows and commercials around the world.

What are some of the ways GoPro might use my submission?

There are a number of ways GoPro might decide to celebrate your content, including but not limited to channels like YouTube. Additional uses may include GoPro promotional materials and official GoPro social channels such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Content licensing opportunities are also available.

If I receive a cash reward, who pays the taxes?

Accepted Answer

All payments distributed by GoPro are exclusive of taxes, duties, levies, tariffs and other governmental charges. Award recipients will be responsible for paying any applicable taxes, interest and penalties due. International awards recipients may be subject to withholding taxes, which will be deducted from their payments.

If my submission is selected, how will I get paid?

If you’re selected for a cash reward, you’ll be notified by email with directions on how to receive your compensation. GoPro will make six attempts over a 90-day period to request your payment details in order to fulfill payment for your award.

I received a coupon code, but it didn’t work on gopro.com.

Accepted Answer

If you’re having difficulty using your coupon code, please reach out to GoPro Customer Support at gopro.com/help. Unfortunately, GoPro doesn’t currently ship to the locations listed here. Coupon codes are therefore also not applicable for these locations.

Do I need to think about rights and clearances?

Yes! Thanks for asking. We want to respect our friends, neighbors and fellow artists, so you’ll need to obtain additional documentation for any recognizable people seen in your photos or videos. GoPro cannot use anyone’s image without their permission.

Music
Yes! All music must be licensed. Choose a free track from our partners at Epidemic Sound. Video edits submitted with unlicensed music cannot be selected for GoPro Awards. If you don’t want to add music, simply submit your raw GoPro clips.
