We at GoPro are thrilled and honored to have HERO11 Black be awarded a 2023 Edison Award. The latest flagship camera took home the Bronze in the Personal Technology category, specifically for the Quality Enhancements sub-section.
The Edison Award, created in 1987 and named after the inventor himself, recognizes and honors game-changing innovations that are at the forefront of new product and service development, marketing, and human-centered design.
HERO11 Black was recognized for its new 8:7 capture height via its 1/1.9” image sensor and GP2 processor makes it possible to record previously unattainable shots, from extra-tall vertical frames to ultra-immersive wide angles that capture more in every shot. This allows users to adapt footage across social media platforms and share automatic highlight videos that are generated by the GoPro Quik app along with a GoPro Subscription. HERO11 is complete with unmatched 5.3K30 and 4K60 video, 10-bit color video quality, HyperSmooth 5.0 stabilization and 27MP photos.
This is the third Edison Award GoPro has received; the first was awarded in 2018 following the launch our first 360 camera, Fusion, which earned a Gold Medal in the Media, Visual Communications, and Entertainment category. GoPro MAX later again caught the attention of the judges and scored the Silver Medal in the Portable Entertainment category in February 2020.
We won’t bore you with a long acceptance speech (queue the outro music), but still, we are extremely grateful for the continued recognition and to be held at the same caliber as the inventor and path-maker himself, Edison, as he was the first of us all to project a motion picture. Thank you, Edison Awards!
