HERO3 Camera Will Not Power ON

If your camera is not powering on, there could be a fault with the camera, battery, SD card, or there could be a loose connection somewhere.  We have some tips for you to try that should clear up the issue for you. Formatting an SD Card with the HERO3 and HERO3+ Cameras

This article explains how to reformat an SD card with your HERO3 or HERO3+ camera by selecting the Delete ALL/Format option in the camera’s settings menu.  Note – Reformatting the SD card will delete all data off of the card, so be sure that you save any videos or pictures you want to keep on your computer before reformatting the SD card. Camera is not Recognized when Plugged into a Computer USB Port

If your computer is not recognizing the USB connection it could be one of a few things: There is a loose connection somewhere The USB cable is faulty There is a compatibility issue with the SD card There is a fault with the camera itself. Please try removing and reinserting the USB cable into the camera and computer, ensuring that both ends are fully inserted and secure.  Note that you do have to give a little extra push to have the USB cable click into place when connecting to the camera.... What are .thm and .lrv files?

Recommended Chargers

If you plan to use a USB charger to charge your camera or Battery BacPac, be sure to research the volts (V) and amps (A) that the charger outputs before you connect your camera or Battery BacPac to it. Turning Off One Button Mode

If your camera automatically starts taking a video recording upon powering it on, the camera has One Button Mode enabled.
