What are .cpgz Files?

You may see a .cpgz file if you double-click on one of the software update .bin files on a Mac. When you double-click on the .bin file the computer tries to automatically copy the file resulting in this .cpgz file. You do not need this file. Please delete it and make sure that the trashcan is emptied before proceeding with the software update. What to do if the Camera or Wi-Fi Update Fails

If the camera or Wi-Fi software update fails, you can try the following steps to fix the problem: Power off the camera. Reformat the SD card in the camera or in the computer. Redo the software update manually through the software updater. Try a different SD card if possible. Follow the links below for instructions on how to manually update the camera software. Static Sound is Heard on Recorded Video Files

For HERO3 camera users, make sure that you have updated to the latest camera software version. The latest update reduces interference from constant noises. There are times when certain external electrical interference or audio frequencies will interfere with the audio recording of the camera, and cause a background static. What are the Advantages of Using Wi-Fi Over Bluetooth?

The HERO4 uses both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless control of the camera. Bluetooth is used to quickly recognize the camera upon launching the GoPro App. Once successfully paired to the camera, the HERO4 will result to a Wi-Fi connection as it has several advantages over Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE* including higher bandwidth, better range, lower latency, higher bit-rate, and better security.

Mobile Device Disconnects from the Camera's Wi-Fi

If you are experiencing a problem where your phone or tablet is disconnecting from your camera's Wi-Fi network, this FAQ should help top resolve the problem. Internal Microphone Disabled when the Combo Cable is Attached

When a combo cable is attached to a HERO3 or HERO3+ camera the internal microphone in the camera is automatically disabled. The reason for this is that the Combo Cable allows for an external microphone to be connected, so the internal mic is turned off.

Problems Downloading Camera Software Updates

If you are having difficulty downloading the latest software update for your HERO3 or HERO3+ camera, it may be due to the browser that you are using. We have seen some problems when using Internet Explorer.
