HERO3 Camera Premium Accessory Compatibility

The Wi-Fi Remote, LCD Touch BacPac, and the new Battery BacPac are compatible with the HERO3 camera and the HD HERO Original or HD HERO2 cameras.   You do not need a Wi-Fi BacPac if you have a HERO3 camera since the HERO3 camera has built-in Wi-Fi.  You will need the Wi-Fi Remote or the GoPro App if you want to use the HERO3 camera's built-in Wi-Fi though. Updating Camera Software for GoPro App Compatibility

In order to use the new features in the latest GoPro App update, it is requires to update your GoPro camera software. If you do not update your camera software you will get a message within the GoPro App that states: "Firmware Update Required". How Can You Confirm that a Software Update Completed Successfully?

Power on the camera and look at the version number that is displayed on the screen as it turns on. If the version number is current, then the update completed successfully. See this article to confirm what the latest version is: Software Update Release Information.

The HERO3 battery a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and is rated at 1050 mAH, 3.7V, and 3885 mWh. If you are looking for a replacement battery, you can find one on the GoPro Store here.

Video Playback with the LCD Touch BacPac or HDMI Displays "File Not Supported"

The "File Not Supported" message will appear if an individual chapter from a multi-chapter video was deleted on a computer, and an attempt is made for that video to be played back with an LCD Touch BacPac or over HDMI. If you wish to play back footage using an LCD Touch BacPac or over HDMI output the best practice is to not delete individual chapters of a multi-chapter video.

Choppy Video Playback on Mobile Devices

In some cases you may notice that video is choppy when playing back higher resolution videos that have been downloaded through the GoPro App and played back on a phone. Some phones can have a difficult time playing back high resolution video smoothly. If playback is choppy the actual video file is likely fine, it is just a playback issue on the specific phone and will likely play back smoothly on other players As a workaround, you can try using 1080-30 or downloading the low resolution videos instead. How Do I View My Camera's Battery Level in the GoPro App?

If you are connected to your camera you find the battery percentage level in the Settings menu. You can enter settings by pressing the wrench icon in the lower right of the Command and Control screen.

Lux Rating Information

The Lux ratings for the HERO3 and HERO3+ cameras are not something that we have available.  We feel that the Lux rating does not provide an accurate picture of the light sensitivity capabilities of the camera, since this is only a rating for the camera sensor, and does not take into account the actual processing of the image by the camera.  The best thing you can do to get a better idea of the camera's low-light performance is to take a look at our customers' videos on websites like Youtube or... GoPro App: Preview Window Flashes Green and/or Purple

When the camera preview window flashes green and/or purple, this means that preview has been lost temporarily. Don’t worry though… If camera control or preview is lost, the camera will remain in the last triggered state.
