If your camera is not powering on, there could be a fault with the camera, battery, SD card, or there could be a loose connection somewhere.  We have some tips for you to try that should clear up the issue for you. Waterproof and Depth Rating

The HD HERO Original, HD HERO2, and HERO3 cameras come in a protective waterproof case that is capable of withstanding depths of up to 197 feet (60 meters). Formatting an SD Card with the HERO3 and HERO3+ Cameras

Camera is not Recognized when Plugged into a Computer USB Port

If your computer is not recognizing the USB connection it could be one of a few things: There is a loose connection somewhere The USB cable is faulty There is a compatibility issue with the SD card There is a fault with the camera itself. Recommended Chargers

If you plan to use a USB charger to charge your camera or Battery BacPac, be sure to research the volts (V) and amps (A) that the charger outputs before you connect your camera or Battery BacPac to it. How to Check Your Camera's Software Version

With the newer camera software versions, the camera will briefly show the version number on the camera's front LCD screen upon power it ON. This is the easiest way to determine the version that the camera is running on.
