Camera Freezes Up

If your camera is freezing up, that usually means that you need to update the camera's software or there are some issues with the SD card. SD Card Recommendations

It's important to use one of the recommended SD cards in your camera, or you may experience freeze-up or video corruption issues. We recommend only purchasing name brand SD cards through reputable resellers. How to Charge the Camera Battery

Recommended Chargers

If you plan to use a USB charger to charge your camera or Battery BacPac, be sure to research the volts (V) and amps (A) that the charger outputs before you connect your camera or Battery BacPac to it. Our cameras and Battery BacPacs require USB chargers that output 5V and 1A.  Using chargers that do not meet this requirement can potentially break your camera or Battery BacPac.  To properly charge your camera, first power it off and disconnect the BacPac if one is attached.  Next, connect the camera to a... HD HERO Original Video Resolution Settings and Format

You have five different video resolution options with the original HD HERO camera: 1080p = 1920x1080 pixels (16:9)  960p = 1280x960 pixels (4:3)  720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9)  @ 60FPS 720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9) WVGA = 848x480 pixels (16:9) The camera records in MPEG4 (.mp4) files using h.264 compression.    Note:  The HD HERO 960 does NOT have the option to record in 1080p or the higher frame rate of 720p @ 60fps.

Turning Off One Button Mode

If your camera automatically starts taking a video recording upon powering it on, the camera has One Button Mode enabled. This will be indicated by your camera's LCD screen blinking and the red LED blinking on the front of the camera.
