In some cases, the HD HERO2 camera powers ON once the first part of the software update process is completed in CineForm Studio.  At this point, CineForm Studio instructs you to disconnect the camera from the computer and power it ON so that the update can complete.  Since the camera is already ON, the instructions can be confusing.  Here's what you should do to allow the software update to complete successfully:

1.  Disconnect the camera from the computer.  Leave the SD card in the camera, and DO NOT reformat it.

2.  Power OFF the camera.

3.  HOLD the Shutter button down on the camera.  While you're holding the Shutter button, press the Power button one time.  The camera will power ON and show a video camera icon.  While STILL holding the Shutter button, press the Power button 3 more times.  If the camera update screen shows before you have time to press the Power button 3 times after turning on the camera, that is OK.

4.  You will see the camera update screen on the camera's LCD screen with v.33 listed, and the red LED on the front of the camera will blink.  This means that the camera is finishing the software update for you.  You may notice the camera power itself OFF/ON up to two times within the span of 3 minutes during this process.

5.  If you see the camera update screen for longer than 3 minutes, remove/reinsert the battery.  Note - DO NOT remove or reformat the SD card.  Next, HOLD the Shutter button down.  While you're holding the Shutter button, press the Power button one time.  The camera will power on.  While STILL holding the Shutter button, press the Power button 3 more times.  The camera update screen should show again.

If the camera update screen shows before you have time to press the Power button 3 times after turning on the camera, that is OK.  This means that the software is updating.  Let the update continue.

6.  If you see the camera update screen for longer than 3 minutes again, remove/reinsert the battery.  DO NOT remove or reformat the SD card.  Power on the camera by pressing the Power button one time, and the camera should power ON and automatically show the camera update screen.  This means that the camera is still updating the software.  It should take about 3 minutes.  Repeat this step if you see the update screen for more than 3 minutes.

7.  Once the software update completes, the camera will power itself ON into video mode.

8.  To verify that the update took, power OFF the camera, remove the SD card, then power ON the camera.  If the update worked, you should see the camera go into video mode and say NO SD on the screen.

You should be good to go!
