San Mateo, Calif. (July 20, 2012) – GoPro, the world’s most versatile camera, is proud to announce its new sponsorship and role as the official wearable camera of EAA AirVenture 2012, known as “the world’s greatest aviation celebration.” The event, which is held July 23-29, 2012 in Oshkosh, WI, will mark GoPro’s entrance into the aviation market.

As the official wearable camera, GoPro will produce daily overview videos highlighting AirVenture’s top, action-packed performances that will be seen prior to all event concerts, Fly-In Theater showings, on the EAA’s website and across GoPro’s vast social media channels. For the first time in the event’s history, attendees will witness first hand, the thrill of different aircraft from an onboard perspective, as GoPro’s HD HERO2 cameras will be mounted on a variety of historic and modern aircraft spanning a multitude of performances.

“With more than 10,000 aircraft on site for the event, the energy and excitement of AirVenture makes it the perfect arena for GoPro’s entry into the world of aviation,” said Paul Crandell, Vice President of Brand Marketing for GoPro. “We look forward to meeting likeminded enthusiasts, and demonstrating how GoPro can capture people’s amazing flight experiences and make it easier to relive and share these exhilarating experiences.”

AirVenture attendees will have the opportunity to meet renowned aerobatics world champion, Kirby Chambliss, and get autographs signed in GoPro’s booth (number 394 located next to Phillips 66 Plaza on Wittman Road) Wednesday, July 25 and Saturday, July 28 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Throughout the event GoPro experts will be on site, teaching fans how to maximize the potential of their GoPro cameras and offering special AirVenture prices on all cameras and accessories.

Mark Burnett, five-time Emmy award winner and avid GoPro customer, said in a previous statement, "We have used GoPro cameras in some of our biggest productions, like Survivor and The Bible. GoPro has allowed us to capture and share fascinating new perspectives that previously weren’t possible or were too costly, which in the end makes for better story telling. We are always excited to see what GoPro is working on next."
