GoPro Athlete Justin Marks to Make NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Debut

GoPro will be cheering on Marks as he makes Sprint Cup debut in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 piloting the No. 7 GoPro Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing at Sonoma Raceway

Continuing his long-standing relationship with GoPro, Marks will pilot the No. 7 GoPro Chevrolet SS in the road course race for Tommy Baldwin Racing this weekend, marking the first appearance for both Marks and GoPro in a Sprint Cup race. As well, both Marks and GoPro originate from Northern California, so it is fitting that they team up for their debut at Sonoma.
Their partnership doesn’t end there, however. Just days ago, Marks’ state-of-the-art Motorplex Karting facility in Mooresville, NC, reopened its doors as the GoPro Motorplex. Already the choice destination for NASCAR stars, the GoPro Motorplex is the premier racing destination in the United States. Read more about it HERE.

As for his bid in NASCAR this weekend, Marks is both focused and excited. The venue couldn’t be more fitting.
“It’s really the culmination of a dream to be able to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,” explained Marks. “It’s fitting that it’s going to happen at Sonoma Raceway, where I kind of grew up racing and cut my teeth. I know Tommy and all the guys at TBR are going to bring a well-prepared GoPro Chevrolet to the track, so it’s just going to be a matter of getting to know the Gen-6 car and getting reacquainted with the racetrack. My goal for the weekend is to run a clean, competitive race and keep that 7 car up in the points.”

Good luck this weekend, Justin!

The Toyota/Save Mart 350 will air live on TNT this Sunday, with coverage beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

Mark Burnett, five-time Emmy award winner and avid GoPro customer, said in a previous statement, "We have used GoPro cameras in some of our biggest productions, like Survivor and The Bible. GoPro has allowed us to capture and share fascinating new perspectives that previously weren’t possible or were too costly, which in the end makes for better story telling. We are always excited to see what GoPro is working on next."

"In a world of smartphones and increasingly small cameras, GoPro is still the film fans device of choice and the rugged gadget that will launch the careers of many future directors.
