The following are general guidelines for the proper use of Woodman Labs, Inc. d/b/a GoPro (hereafter “GoPro”) trademarks, service marks, trade dress, and trade names (collectively, “Trademarks”). GoPro has established strong goodwill and valuable rights through proper and continuous use of its Trademarks.
By adhering to these guidelines, you help us protect our valuable trademark rights and strengthen the integrity of our brands. Any use of GoPro’s Trademarks that is inconsistent with these guidelines may violate GoPro’s trademark rights.

General Fair Use Guidelines
You may make fair use of GoPro wordmarks to: (1) make factual statements about GoPro, our products, or (2) truthfully communicate that your product is compatible with GoPro’s products or that your photo & video content was produced using authentic GoPro products, or (3) truthfully communicate your interest in GoPro’s products or original GoPro media.
Also, you do NOT need permission to use our trademarks when making factual statements about the fact that you used authentic GoPro products in a photo or video production, or to comment on original content produced with authentic GoPro products. When you do, please follow the proper form & guidelines outlined in this policy.
Please note that to use any GoPro trademarks for commercial use, or to use GoPro logo, stylizations, or copyrighted materials for any purpose, you must first obtain written permission from GoPro.
1. Only use GoPro’s wordmarks.
You should never use GoPro’s logos or stylizations of wordmarks without the express written consent of GoPro.
2. Write our name properly – GoPro or gopro.com.
GoPro is ALWAYS just ONE WORD, never two.
Also, the first & third letters are typically capitalized. Alternatively, capitalizing the whole wordmark, GOPRO, when referring to the brand – as opposed to the company – is also acceptable. Using all lower case is acceptable when referring to our website domain name(s) or web pages.

3. Use our marks only as adjectives.
A trademark is an adjective that modifies a noun. In other words, a trademark identifies a brand, not a product or service. It should always be used in connection with a generic product name, and never as a possessive or plural:
Correct: My GoPro® cameras provide excellent picture quality.
Correct: My GoPro cameras provide excellent picture quality.
Incorrect: My GoPro provides excellent picture quality.
Incorrect: GoPro’s cameras provide excellent picture quality.
Incorrect: My five GoPros all provide excellent picture quality.
4. Use appropriate markings along with GoPro’s marks.
Always use the ™ or ® symbol, as appropriate based on the designations in our List of Trademarks.
5. Attribute ownership of each trademark to GoPro.
When referring to a GoPro trademark, please include the following notice:
“GOPRO®, HERO®, & NAKED® are trademarks or registered trademarks of Woodman Labs, Inc. in the United States and other countries.”
This notice should be at the bottom of your home page or at the bottom of the web pages that contain our marks and logos, or in your “About” section if used in connection with a specific GoPro partnership program. For printed materials, please place the notice in an appropriate location with other legal notices.
6. Distinguish GoPro the company from GoPro the brand.
When referring to the company itself and it’s activities, do NOT use a ® or ™ symbol. Reserve the use of these symbols for references to the brand & products.
Correct:“Today, GoPro announced the launch of the first ever consumer camera designed to shoot 3D HD footage.”
Incorrect: “Today, GoPro® announced its third quarter earnings.”
7. Notify us when someone is NOT using our marks or logos properly.

Common Fair Use Examples
The following are common examples of fair use, and recommended guidelines to ensure you use our wordmarks properly when talking about GoPro, referring to our products, or publishing & sharing original content you create with our products.
1. Talking About GoPro
We encourage you to talk about GoPro, maker of the award winning line of wearable & gear-mountable HERO cameras & accessories, & enabler of capturing life’s most exciting experiences in HD video & photos. If you talk about GoPro in a non-commercial context, you do NOT need our permission. The only thing we ask is that you be honest, make truthful, accurate, non-disparaging statements about our trademarks, and use proper form.

a. USE INCORRECT FORM of our wordmarks, such as “go pro” or “go-pro”. The only correct forms of our wordmark are “GoPro” or “GOPRO”.
b. LIE or DISPARAGE by making statements that are misleading, fraudulent, inaccurate, disparaging, potentially damaging or otherwise untrue about the GoPro brand, our products, videos, photos, affiliates, partners or sponsored athletes;
c. IMPLY FALSE SPONSORSHIP OR ENDORSEMENT by referring to us in a way that implies a false sense of partnership or endorsement;
d. MAKE COMMERCIAL USE of our trademarks, logos, designs, and copyrighted material without first obtaining explicit written permission from GoPro in advance.
2. Referring To, or Recommending Our Products
GoPro produces an award-winning line of wearable & gear-mountable HERO cameras, camera mounts, & accessories. Our products bear our trademarks to make sure that you know when you are dealing with authentic products manufactured by GoPro.
As mentioned above, whenever you make fair, non-commercial use of our trademarks, please always use the correct form of the mark when referring to, describing, or recommending our products.
When using the our trademarks to describe our camera in the context of creating original video & photo content, always accompany it with the generic product category term – camera or mount.
Correct: Shot with my GoPro camera.
Correct: All underwater scenes shot exclusively with GoPro HD cameras.
Correct: Shot with the HD HERO camera.
Correct: GoPro cameras are incredibly durable.
Correct: I love my HERO camera, you need to get one!
Incorrect: The hero worked great on the set.
Incorrect: I can’t, my go pro is re-charging its battery right now.
Incorrect: GoPros are incredibly durable.
Incorrect: I love the auto-photo feature on my HERO.
Incorrect: The hero shoots amazing quality HD videos.

a. FALSELY CLAIM that an authentic product produced by GoPro is manufactured by anyone other than GoPro;
b. ASSOCIATE COUNTERFEIT or FAKE PRODUCTS with our trademarks, logo, copyright, & designs;
c. MAKE COMMERCIAL USE our trademarks without first obtaining explicit written permission from GoPro in advance.
3. Publishing or Sharing Original GoPro Content
The greater GoPro community is a diverse group that consists of GoPro employees, customers, Official Media Partners, Authorized Resellers, friends & family who share an appreciation for the ability to publish & share life’s most exciting moments, in original GoPro HD videos & photos.
We encourage you to use our trademarks ONLY to identify original videos & photos created with GoPro cameras & camera mounts, so that you clearly communicate to viewers that the photo is an authentic GoPro Photo, and that the video they are watching is true GoPro HD.
Videos & photos produced by members of the greater GoPro community bear the name of our trademarks to make sure you know when you are looking at a photo, or watching a video created with GoPro products.
When using the GoPro word mark to describe original content produced with a GoPro HERO camera, always use it as an adjective that modifies the appropriate generic category term – video or photo, or a specific attribute or descriptor of the content.
Correct: Onboard sequences shot entirely in GoPro HD.
Correct: That GoPro video is rad.
Correct: Shot in 720p 60fps, GoPro HD.
Correct: For the slow motion sequence, I used GoPro R3 mode.
Correct: Sick GoPro edit.
Correct: GoPro photos are amazing.
Incorrect: Did you see that GoPro he just posted?
Incorrect: That picture is cool, but the Go-Pro is better.

a. MAKE FALSE CLAIM that content was produced by GoPro, a GoPro Official Media Partner, or a GoPro Authorized Reseller when it was not;
b. INACCURATELY LABEL or TAG photos or videos that were NOT produced using authentic GoPro products with our trademarks, logo, copyright, & designs;
c. CLAIM SOMEONE ELSE’S ORIGINAL WORK AS YOUR OWN, and if you do, definitely do NOT use our trademarks & copyright within such statements.
4. Declaring a Product to be Compatible with GoPro Products
GoPro is the only manufacturer of authentic GoPro products. GoPro normally does not grant 3rd party companies license to use our trademarks & copyright in production or marketing of 3rd party products. If you want to use our trademarks & copyright for commercial purposes, you must first obtain express written permission from GoPro.
GoPro believes in the DIY spirit of our community. We recognize that some members of the GoPro community will innovate new ways to use authentic GoPro products during activities by modifying or repurposing mounts so that the camera can attach to surfaces or gear in uniquely appropriate ways for a given activity. We encourage you to continue doing so as long as you do so for your own personal use.
If you invent a new product designed to be used in conjunction with an authentic GoPro product, you are within your right to do so. However, if you choose to use our trademarks to describe your product as compatible with ours, please use the following standard statement, and always follow the proper form as detailed elsewhere in this policy:
“Designed for use with GOPRO® products. GOPRO® is a registered trademarks of Woodman Labs, Inc. in the United States and other countries.”
Informational Use – Education, Printed Materials, & Other Non-Commercial Uses
GoPro authorizes individuals, journalists, & educators to view & download GoPro trademark, copyright & company information for personal, journalistic, educational, or illustrative use only in print (book, magazine, newspaper, journal, reports, academic papers) or digital (web page, DVD, CD, .pdf) reproductions, with the following restrictions:
1. Your name and word mark must appear more prominently than ours.
When printing our trademarks & copyright on the publication and all related printed or digitally published materials, make sure it appears less prominently than your name & the name of the publication;
2. The use must be unaltered.
You may NOT superimpose graphics, photos or text over the information, change colors or shapes, or modify the look & feel of the information in any way;
3. You must retain ALL the proper copyright & proprietary notices.
If using our trademarks or copyright in your publication, you must retail all the proper copyright & proprietary notices on all copies of information, including GoPro copyright notices and those of 3rd parties;
4. You may NOT use our marks or copyright in the title or on the cover of the publication without prior written permission.
Applies to books, magazines, pamphlets, papers, websites or any other publication.
5. The use must reflect favorably upon GoPro, GoPro products & services.
6. The use must include a trademark attribution notice.
By including a trademark attribution notice, you clearly communicate GoPro’s ownership of trademark(s) & copyright; see General Fair Use Guidelines above;
7. Your use must clearly indicate that your publication is NOT affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by GoPro.
8. You need prior written permission.
To use any GoPro trademarks for commercial use, or to use GoPro logo, stylizations, or copyrighted materials for any purpose, you must first obtain written permission from GoPro.
NOTE: GoPro often acquires the right to republish the original work of 3rd parties & individuals, with their express written permission, on GoPro.com & 3rd party website properties. If you find information on an official GoPro branded web page that includes copyright owned by someone other than GoPro, you need to obtain explicit permission from that person prior to using or reproducing the work.
Prohibited Uses of Our Trademarks
Most if not all of the below examples are prohibited uses of our trademarks under any condition.
BE CERTAIN NOT TO
1. Use of Trademarks in Your Company, Product or Service Name
You may NOT use any of our Trademarks anywhere within the name of your company, product name, service name, or logos such as GoProBazaar, GoProTahoe.com, gopro.camerasupplies.com, or XYZ.com/gopro.
If you or your company currently uses any of our trademarks or copyright materials, or any variation thereof in your business, please notify us using our Brand Support Form
2. Adopt a Confusingly Similar Variation of Our Trademarks
You may NOT adopt a name, mark, or logo that is confusingly similar to our Trademarks, such as SoPro or GoProfessional.
You may NOT use any of our trademarks in variations or to derive new words or phrases, including but not limited to phonetic variations, foreign language equivalents, take offs, abbreviations or conjunctions.
You also may NOT use altered versions of our copyrighted materials, or derive new graphics or text from our copyrighted materials for any purpose.
3. Use of Trademarks in Domains, Online Identities, Usernames, Avatars, Icons, & URLs
You may NOT use any of our Trademarks or misspellings of our Trademarks in your domain name(s), host names, website subdomain(s), or any online identity, including website usernames, group names, avatars, member names, or community web pages.
We retain the exclusive right to use our trademark(s) and copyright materials to establish our brand identity on all publicly available web platforms, including independently published websites (blogs, vlogs, news sources, online magazines), ecommerce enabled websites (online stores & 3rd party marketplaces), & community-based websites (forums, social networks) so that web users can easily distinguish authentic GoPro identities & content sources from counterfeit or false persons inaccurately identifying themselves as GoPro, a GoPro Offical Media Partner, or a GoPro Authorized Reseller.
Therefore, we do NOT permit our trademarks, copyrights, and any variations or alterations thereof to be used as part of your online identity, including but not limited to domain names, sub-domains, member names, usernames, avatars, profile or business icons, category-level website URLs, or web page meta data related to any web page.
4. Use of Slogans or Taglines
You may NOT use stylized versions of our wordmarks, taglines & slogans. Only GoPro has the right to do so.
5. Hyphenate or Concatenate Our Trademarks
You may NOT connect our wordmarks to other words, prefixes or suffixes, such as with hyphenation (e.g. My product is GOPRO-compatible) or concatenation (e.g. I’m gonna GoProify my website).
6. Use of Visual Designs Confusingly Similar to GoPro
You may NOT make use of our graphical brand identity, visual designs, or copy the look and feel of our products, packaging, websites, and logos, as this can create confusion for viewers trying to discern your real identity as distinct from GoPro’s.
Some authorized resellers & media partners have received written permission to use our trademarks, copyright, & designs for commercial purposes, and will always display GoPro graphical brand identity elements less prominently than our partner’s graphical brand elements.
7. Falsely Imply Affiliation, Sponsorship, Endorsement, or Association
You may NOT imply any affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, or other false association with us unless you received prior written permission from GoPro to do so.
If you are an official media partner or authorized reseller, please refer to your specific policy guidelines to properly announce yourself or your work.
8. Attempt to Obtain Rights in Our Trademarks or Copyright
Only GoPro has rights to and ownership of our trademarks & copyright. Therefore, do NOT attempt to obtain rights in our trademarks whether by trademark registration, domain registration, or otherwise.
9. Associate Our Trademarks & Copyright with Illegal or Illicit Content
Do NOT use any of our marks or logos on any website that contains or displays pornography, promotes gambling, involves the sale of tobacco or alcohol to persons under the age of 21, or otherwise violates applicable law.
10. Use Wordmarks in Meta Data of Web Pages Not Relevant to GoPro
You may NOT use our wordmarks in meta data of informational web pages that are deemed irrelevant to GoPro, GoPro products, or photo & video content produced with GoPro products, or commercial web pages without first receiving written permission from GoPro.
11. Use in Merchandise & Manufactured Items
Normally, GoPro does not license its trademark(s), logo, or copyrighted materials, or any variations or derivations thereof, to 3rd parties for use in manufactured items. Therefore, you may NOT manufacture, sell or give-away merchandise items that bear any GoPro trademark, including symbols, logos, or icons.
How To Report Trademark Violations
If & when you find someone breaking any of the below trademark usage rules, please notify immediately us via our Trademark & Brand Policy Support Form.
Commercial Uses Require Permission
If you are an authorized distributor, reseller, media partner, or licensee, please either refer to your agreement with GoPro, or contact your GoPro representative to discuss your specific usage guidelines. Otherwise, all of the below commercial uses are strictly prohibited without first receiving prior written permission from GoPro.
1. Claim to be a GoPro Official Media Partner or Authorized Reseller
Official Media Partners & Authorized Resellers have exclusive right to use our trademarks & copyright for commercial purposes, such as in advertisements, contests, giveaways, media productions, sponsorships, & retail venues.
To be considered a GoPro Official Media Partner or a GoPro Authorized Reseller, you must first apply to the program, be approved by GoPro, and receive, sign and return a written agreement granting you license to represent yourself or your organization as such.
Unless you possess a signed contractual agreement between you, your company and GoPro that designates you as either a GoPro Official Media Partner or a GoPro Authorized Reseller, you may NOT advertise yourself as such, and you may NOT use our trademarks and/or copyright commercially.
2. Claim to be Sponsored or Endorsed by GoPro
GoPro recognizes the importance of sponsorship in the success of an athlete, a filmmaker, a photographer, a producer, creative individuals, and organizations. GoPro supports the need to be sponsored, and provides a range of sponsorship programs tailored to the needs of our media partners, but requires prior written permission to use our trademark(s), logo, and copyright to indicate endorsement or sponsorship by, or affiliation or partnership with GoPro.
Without first obtaining written approval of your sponsorship application from GoPro, you may not truthfully state that you, your organization, or your project is sponsored or endorsed by GoPro in any way shape or form.
To apply to be considered for sponsorship, please complete & submit our GoPro Official Media Partner Application, and specifiy “Sponsorship” on your application.
3. Use of Trademarks & Copyrighted Materials on Commercial Web Pages
You may NOT use our trademark(s) or copyrighted materials in the information design of any website designed for commercial purpose, whether for promotion or direct sale of products or services without first obtaining written permission from GoPro.
Only Authorized Resellers with specific license to resell our products online have permission to use our trademarks & copyright on specifically designated commercial web pages.
For consideration, please read our “Ecommerce Requirements for Authorized Resellers” to see if you meet the minimum operational requirements for online sales.
4. Use of Trademarks & Copyright In Advertising & Promotions
GoPro has an obligation to defend our rights to our registered trademark(s) & copyright materials, and thereby protect the interests of consumers interested in learning about or buying authentic GoPro products by steering them away from counterfeit products or untrustworthy sources of GoPro information, & toward the only reliable, accurate sources of information about GoPro products, partners, services, product availability, or where to buy.
Only GoPro, GoPro Official Media Partners & GoPro Authorized Resellers are allowed to use our trademark(s) & copyright for commercial purposes in advertising, promotional, & sales materials, and must do so only as specified in their contractual agreement with GoPro & the appropriate subsection of Official GoPro Brand Policy & Guidelines. Further, such use must always be in conjunction with the specific terms that define the relationship between GoPro and licensee, as stated in their contract with GoPro.
Therefore, to use our trademarks & copyright in advertising & promotional materials, such as print ads, online ads, classified ads & product listings, fliers, tv ads, video ads, or online conversations, you need to either be a GoPro Official Media Partner or GoPro Authorized Reseller, and must first obtain specific permission from GoPro to use our trademarks & copyright in a given marketing channel and/or advertising venue.
5. Depict GoPro Products in 3rd Party Advertising Materials
GoPro does not permit the unauthorized use of images of GoPro products in 3rd party advertising & promotional materials due to our need to protect the integrity of our sponsorship & endorsement programs. Such use of GoPro products in 3rd party advertising & promotional materials without first obtaining prior written permission to do so may create a false perception that GoPro sponsors or otherwise endorses the advertised or promoted person, product, company, or service when no such relationship exists.
GoPro Official Media Partners & Authorized Resellers are permitted to depict GoPro products in advertising & promotional materials in accordance with the guidelines & terms set forth in their formal agreement with GoPro, and corresponding policy documents.
6. Use Trademarks & Copyright in Broadcast, Film, TV & Online Media
To legally use our trademark(s) & copyrighted materials in broadcast or online media in any way not already covered by this document, you need prior written permission to do so.
To submit a request to use our trademark(s) & copyright materials in a TV, film, broadcast, or online video production, please use the GoPro Official Media Partner Application and specify the appropriate type of broadcast on the form.
7. Incorporate Trademarks, Copyright, or Technology Into Commercial Products or Services
GoPro, our Official Media Partners, and Authorized Resellers have exclusive right to use our trademark(s) & copyrighted materials commercially. Therefore, if you want to offer a compatible product or related service that leverages our trademark(s) & copyright for advertising or promotional purposes, you need permission.
