GoPro Trademark & Brand Policy
Welcome to GoPro’s Trademark and Brand Policy page. We’re stoked that you’ve discovered the versatile ways that GoPro’s mountable and wearable cameras and accessories (“capture devices”) allow you to capture, manage, share, and enjoy your content in new and innovative ways. Below you’ll find our guidelines, so that you can interact with the GoPro brand correctly.
GoPro’s trademarks and trade dress are protected in the US and internationally, and may not be used without our written permission. GoPro’s trademarks include, but are not limited to, GoPro, Hero, our GoPro logo, our GoPro Be a Hero logo, and other graphics, phrases or images that identify the source or origin of GoPro’s product and services. Do not alter or modify the marks or use them in a confusing way that suggests that GoPro sponsors or endorses you or your products or services, or confuses the GoPro brand with another brand.
You may make fair use of our GoPro wordmarks (such as GoPro and Hero) to: (1) make factual statements about GoPro, our capture devices and services, or (2) truthfully communicate that your product is made for or used with GoPro’s capture devices (more about this is below) or (3) that your photo and video content was captured using authentic GoPro capture devices, or (4) truthfully communicate your interest in GoPro’s products or original GoPro media.
If you are in the media and need access to GoPro’s press kit, please email: email@example.com
Mounts, Accessories, Applications, and Merchandise
Please note that we generally don’t permit use of our marks on mounts, accessories, applications or merchandise (or anything else). Merchandise includes anything you create or build such as: t-shirts, hats, balloons, surfboards, cars, etc. We love your enthusiasm for our products but please don’t put our marks (including word marks and logos) on your custom creations.
If you are making or developing something that can be used with our capture devices you may make factual, truthful statements about how your item works with or is made to be used with a GoPro product or service. Below are the ways in which you may use the GoPro name for this purpose:
- “Works with GoPro’s Hero® camera OR “Works with the GoPro® Hero[2,3, or 3+] camera”
- “Made to be used with GoPro’s Hero® camera” or “Made to be used with GoPro® Hero [2,3, or 3+] camera”
In all materials that contain one of the above phrases, you must also make sure the following text appears where it can be seen by someone purchasing such an item: "GOPRO, HERO, the GOPRO logo, and the GoPro Be a Hero logo are trademarks or registered trademarks of GoPro, Inc."
Please do not apply for a trademark containing GOPRO or HERO or one of our other marks, and do not use GOPRO or HERO in your website name or register a domain name that contains GOPRO, HERO, BACPAC, Be a Hero or any of our other marks, or misspellings or other variations of our marks. Your website or fansite must not copy the distinctive GoPro look and feel, as we do not want anyone to be confused about whether it’s your site or our site.
Uploading Your Content Made with a GoPro Capture Device
The content you create is inspiring and we want to make sure that the world can distinguish between content you have created and original content produced by GoPro. The best way to let us and the world know that your content is “Shot with my GoPro camera” is to use one of our many templates in the GoPro Studio software. When sharing any content, either motion or stills, created with your GoPro capture device, tag #GoPro in the description and/or title of the content as well.
